About Us
Kingston Voluntary Action, promoting quality in partnership

Kingston Voluntary Action leads community engagement, creating opportunities for organisations and individuals to empower them to reach their full potential, so that they make a difference to their communities.

Kingston Voluntary Action was established in 1968 and is an independent,
registered charity.

We are the local development agency and umbrella organisation for voluntary and community
groups operating in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

We are part of a national network of Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS), of which there are
over 230 throughout England, usually covering boroughs or districts.

Although we are called different names - Voluntary Service Council, Voluntary Action,
Centre for Voluntary Service, we all have the same aims and objectives:

  1. Services and support
  2. Liaison
  3. Representation
  4. Development work
  5. Strategic partnerships

KVA has played an important role in the development of many of the groups now fully established in the borough and we currently have over 140 affiliated members representing a wide section of the voluntary sector.  In 2009, KVA achieved the NAVCA Quality Award.

Membership is open to any voluntary organisation or community group providing a service,
support and advice to the community in Kingston upon Thames.
