Capacity building
KVA, through our Community Development Worker, provides advice and support to voluntary and
community organisations on a wide range of issues including:
- How to set up a group
- How to draw up a constitution
- How to register as a charity
- Roles and responsibilities of a management committee
- Financial and human resource management
- Fundraising
You can find further information about some of these issues by following the links on the left and by visiting www.e-voice.org.uk/kingstonchangeup
Other key areas of work include:
Quality Assurance System
We are providing training and assistance to a number of organisations in implementing PQASSO
(Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations). PQASSO is one of the most popular quality assurance systems designed and used within the voluntary
and community sector.
It enables organisations to work at their own pace in determining and implementing continuous improvement within their organisation.
Training Programmes
KVA offers two formal training programmes during the year, one is run in spring and the other in autumn,
which reflect the diverse and complex needs of organisations in the voluntary sector.
Please refer to our Training page for further details.
BME Training
The needs of black and minority ethnic organisations are often different in terms of requiring closer support
and of language and cultural requirements.
Kingston Voluntary Action organises free training for black and minority ethnic voluntary and community groups
on a range of issues including health and safety, roles and responsibilities of management committee members
and fundraising.
Child Protection
KVA organises child protection training and provide advice and support to children’s and
young people’s organisations
in drawing up a child protection policy.
Management Committee Training
This training includes legal responsibilities of trustees, governance, and roles of
officers for groups who have new members, groups wanting a refresher course or an update.
