The Local Involvement Network for the borough of Kingston-upon-Thames is well under way in its newly configured state and is known as Kingston’s LINk.

In October last year KVA was contracted by the Council to act as the host agency to support a Local Involvement Network. This will enable local people to have a voice in matters relating to health and social care in the borough. We have secured premises adjacent to Siddeley House to be a base for  the members’ activities and we have recruited new staff to support the LINk members. In December, we held a public meeting where the new Governance arrangements , drawn up by an interim steering group, were agreed.

Nominations were invited from the membership to recruit a new Steering Group that will be dedicated to looking at work plans and the engagement of local people in identified health and social care issues. As of 11th January a new Steering Group has been established and we are keen to make progress with the group and support them to take the work forward.

A list of issues and concerns about health and social care have been compiled by the membership over the past year and this is expected to form the basis for a work plan; however the list is by no means exclusive and we are keen to encourage LINk members to bring any common issues or concerns for consideration by the Steering Group.
