The Children and Young People First Project The main aim of the project is to raise awareness of workforce development issues in Kingston for voluntary, community and private groups working with children and young people. The project aims to enable those groups to access training opportunities in the borough and to build their capacity through training, advice and support for their staff, volunteers and trustees. In partnership with RBK's Voluntary Sector Unit, the project also aims to support third sector representatives on the committees of the Children's Trust.
Training Training for people working with children and young people is run by various departments in RBK, mainly Learning and Childrens Services and Early Years. Their training programmes are on the RBK website. There are usually two places reserved for people from VCS groups at each event. To date these have included Safer Recruitment, South London Learning Consortium, Developing a Training Plan and Participation.
