Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

Who Should Attend: Staff, trustees and volunteers working with vulnerable adults.

Course Overview: Does your organisation work with vulnerable adults? Do you know what safeguarding adults means? Are you always able to recognise abuse and if you do, do you know how to proceed?  This course will help you understand the balance between exercising your duties and responsibilities, promoting the choice of your service users and avoiding unnecessary intervention in people’s lives.

This interactive one day workshop will give participants an opportunity to:

  • Define what is meant by ‘vulnerable adult’ and ‘abuse’
  • Gain an awareness of ‘safeguarding’ as it affects vulnerable adults you work with
  • Know how to respond to concerns and make a referral using appropriate systems
  • Learn about recent changes affecting the safeguarding system
  • Exchange information with other voluntary sector organisations working with vulnerable adults
  • Discuss and share perspectives on safeguarding practice

Trainer: Tammy Tawadros is an organisational consultant, trainer and registered social worker. Tammy has many years experience of direct work in health and social care in residential, hospital and community settings. Tammy has also designed and delivered a number of learning and training events and conducted service evaluations on safeguarding adults.

Course Fee:  £40/£65
