Safeguarding Children - Child Protection Awareness, Level 1

Who Should Attend: Staff and volunteers working on projects that involve children and families.

Course Overview: The course will cover:

  • What constitutes child abuse
  • Signs and symptoms (ground & specific) of child abuse
  • Sources of stress which can make children more vulnerable to abuse and neglect
  • Managing disclosures and concerns about child abuse
  • Main concepts of the Children Act and relevant Guidance
  • Relevant Child Protection policies and procedures
  • Referral process and the role of Safeguarding Board’s agencies and professionals in the Child Protection process.
  • Your own roles and responsibilities and appreciation of roles and responsibilities of other professionals

Trainer: Carla Thomas, a local Safeguarding Children Board Training and Development Manager.
