Kingston Voluntary Action, promoting quality in partnership

A key role of KVA is to identify and meet the training needs of Kingston's voluntary and community sector.

KVA Capacity Building Training Programme

As part of Kingston’s 3-year Infrastructure Support and Development Project funded by the BIG Lottery Fund, KVA is running Capacity Building Training each autumn and spring.

Courses are tailored to meet the needs of Kingston’s Voluntary and Community organisations and will be delivered by well qualified trainers with years of experience of working with the voluntary sector. The Training Programmes will address many areas relevant to strengthening the capacity of voluntary and community organisations and will be aimed at staff, volunteers and management committee members.

Local Area Agreement and Local Strategic Partnership – What’s in it for the Voluntary Sector?
Thursday 4 March, 10-12.30
Venue: Richard Mayo Centre, United Reformed Church

KVA’s Training Needs Analysis and the feedback from our last Voluntary Sector Forum have revealed the need amongst the local groups to increase their awareness of the statutory environment and the relevance of national and local indicators for the services they provide.

This seminar will endeavour to demystify some of the mechanisms in the local statutory environment.  This will improve your knowledge and awareness of how you fit into the overall local picture and how to better access the information required when justifying the need for your project. It will also help you better understand locally available funding resources.

Jill Darling, from RBK Voluntary Sector Unit and Sanja Kane, from KVA will lead the seminar but it is intended to be an interactive session so bring along your questions and issues for discussion.

Aimed at: Staff and Trustees of the Voluntary Sector organisations in Kingston
Agenda:

  1. Your expectations from the seminar and what are the issues for you
  2. Local Strategic Partnership, what is it and who are the partners
  3. Local Area Agreement – why it is important that you are familiar with it
  4. Potential funding opportunities through commissioning arrangements
  5. Networking

To book a place, please contact Sanja Kane training@kva.org.uk or telephone 020 8255 3335.
